Justice at the service of consumers
Participants in Ausbanc’s recent II Justice Forum, celebrated in Seville, said they are concerned about the increase in the number mortgage applications and approvals and the high rates of interest charged on some.
Participants at the forum, hosted by consumer advocacy group Ausbanc at the hotel Great Meliá Colón in Seville, were also critical about the fact that bankruptcy laws are not adapted to the needs of debtor families.
The Justice Forum was attended by judges, government officials, lawyers, clerks of the court, property inspectors, and university professors. During the forum, delegates also managed to re-think their perceptions of the justice system from distant and pompous, to one that serves the public.  This system, following legislative modifications, has empowered legal clerks to seize challenges and increase their role, leaving the judge to focus on his role of judge and jury overseer.

Roundtables
During the debate concern surrounded the notable increase in mortgage executions in the first quarter of 2010; some 4,638 mortgage applications have been processed in Andalusia alone.
There was also talk of extortionate loans charged by organizations which are not banks; and the need for family creditors to respond to debtor needs.
